About The Position

We are seeking a results-driven experienced professional who has deep experience providing consulting services focused on identifying, quantifying, documenting, delivering, and defending research and development (R&D) tax credits. The R&D Tax Credit Director will represent GA Group to business executives and their CPAs with a primary responsibility to lead R&D Tax Credit projects with a detail-oriented, thorough, and highly organized approach. Candidates are expected to have experience both performing R&D tax credit services and managing a team to deliver the services. The role will have a secondary responsibility to help market other strategic tax services GA Group Tax Advisory provides to clients, including other tax credits and income tax deductions, sales tax refunds and exemptions, and fixed asset services. This role is open to candidates nationwide with a preference for those located in or near Chicago, Illinois.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience within the professional services industry, preferably accounting or legal firms.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Accounting, Law, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with C-Suite level executives and senior decision-makers.
  • Experience using Project Management platforms to manage progress and delivery.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Ai tools.
  • Strong communication, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively, however this will solely be based on the client needs and expectations.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to quality in business practices, and to maintain confidentiality with company and client information.
  • Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and quantify available R&D tax credit opportunities at companies across all industries.
  • Consult with CPAs, attorneys, and business executives on R&D tax credit opportunities.
  • Prepare client presentations for proposals and planning strategies.
  • Manage project work plans and scheduling to meet client expectations.
  • Perform interviews of client engineering and technical personnel.
  • Review applicable client documentation and support.
  • Identify expenses for qualification under Section 174 and Section 41.
  • Document all technical requirements and information required for substantiating QREs.
  • Utilize appropriate software and tools to organize and manipulate large client data sets.
  • Research relevant technical and industry specific topics.
  • Write technical reports and analysis.
  • Ensure analysis and timelines are met.
  • Adhere to GA Group’s client satisfaction expectations.
