About The Position

The Director, Research & Analysis at SAG-AFTRA is responsible for analyzing the media and labor economics landscape to support the union's strategic decision-making and negotiations. This role involves conducting primary and secondary research, analyzing financial results, and communicating findings to stakeholders to inform tactical decisions. The position requires collaboration with various departments and the ability to present complex data in a clear and compelling manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. Economics, Finance, Business etc.) with 4+ years of relevant experience; or Master's Degree in Business Administration, Economics or Analytics preferred.
  • Understanding of economics principles.
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Understanding of Media, Entertainment, and/or Advertising industries.
  • Superior writing skills.
  • Ability to present relevant findings in compelling, succinct presentations.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks under deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Superlative interpersonal skills with a high degree of patience and tact.
  • Understanding of worker rights impacting SAG-AFTRA members.

Nice To Haves

  • College-level coursework and/or experience in Financial Statement Analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze the financial results of individual companies using publicly available financial statements and licensed third-party information.
  • Track the production and exhibition details of media content.
  • Monitor economic trends in the media and advertising industries, and identify, analyze and communicate meaningful trends.
  • Design and execute surveys; analyze and present their findings.
  • Clearly communicate analyses and relevant findings in written and/or presentation formats; respond to questions and/or concerns raised by stakeholders.
  • Gather relevant business and economic intelligence to inform analysis and strategic decision-making.
  • Maintain internal databases of researched information.
  • Lead cross-departmental strategic research initiatives.
  • Present research findings to member Committees, caucuses, and task forces.
  • Act on behalf of the National Director as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
