About The Position

The Director of Rehabilitation is responsible for the strategic leadership, planning, and execution of all injury rehabilitation and return-to-play processes for players within the organization. This role ensures evidence-based, hockey-specific rehabilitation practices that optimize player health, performance, durability, and career longevity while aligning with competitive objectives and league standards. The Director of Rehabilitation collaborates closely with athletic training, sports medicine, strength & conditioning, performance science, coaching staff, and front office leadership to deliver integrated, player-centered care across all levels of the organization.

Requirements

  • Must have a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) agree from an accredited university

  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and oversight of comprehensive rehabilitation programs for all injured players
  • Establish and enforce evidence-based rehabilitation protocols specific to hockey demands and positional requirements
  • Oversee all return-to-play progressions, ensuring safe, efficient, and performance-ready transitions
  • Partner closely with team physicians, athletic trainers, strength & conditioning coaches, performance staff, and skills coaches
  • Communicate rehabilitation timelines, milestones, and risk assessments to hockey operations leadership
  • Build trust-based relationships with players to support adherence, accountability, and confidence during rehab
  • Educate players on injury prevention, recovery strategies, and long-term health
  • Integrate performance science and medical data into return-to-play criteria
  • Stay current with emerging research, technologies, and best practices in elite sports rehabilitation and utilize and implement those technologies and practices
  • Set and monitor rehabilitation systems and standards for the organization's minor-league affiliate teams
  • Remotely monitor and advise on the rehabilitation of the organization's prospects
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
