About The Position

The Director of Rehabilitation Services administers, directs and coordinates activities of patient care administration within the physical, speech and occupational therapy services. Responsible for the management of the District Wound Care Program. Has responsibility for services at all LVMC Facilities (Acute Hospital, Comprehensive Care Center and Lompoc Health). Responsible for the recommendation, development and implementation of policies and procedures in rehabilitation services and for keeping the COO informed of both progress and potential problems. Responsible for the direction and evaluation of patient care delivery. Maintains operational aspects of functions as a role model to the department staff by participating in the delivery of patient care, acting as a clinical/expert resource and mentor to promote principal responsibilities including support of hospital mission and values, performance improvement activities, management of patient care personnel, management of PT/OT department, management of patient care, education responsibilities, miscellaneous responsibilities. Must work well under stress or tight deadlines. Must work well with supervisors, co-workers, patients/residents, family members and visitors.

Requirements

  • Education: DPT with current valid California License (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience: At least three (3) years of Management Experience in Rehabilitative Services, PT or OT
  • Cert/License: PT License, OT Registration, Valid California driver's license
  • Skills/Ability: Comprehensive advanced knowledge of rehabilitative services to patients of all ages, Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Ability to organize work assignments and follow through with accuracy, exercise good judgment, demonstrate initiative, emotional stability, tact and poise, problem-solving skills and proficiency in computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Performs evaluations of patients
  • Performs treatment of patients
  • Maintains current documentation of patients' progress/complaints
  • Communicates with physicians regarding patient care
  • Able to interpret data from all areas of patient chart when determining patient needs
  • Communicates with patient and family regarding therapy goals and needs prior to discharge
  • Seeks continuing education appropriate to maintain up to date skill levels
  • Delegates care to physical therapy assistant and maintains proper supervision of patient care
  • Co-signs all documentation when appropriate
  • Responsible for educating other departments in body mechanics, CPM, and traction set up
  • Responsible for recommendation, development, and implementation of policies and procedures for Physical Therapy Department
  • Communicates with COO and keeps him/or her informed of both progress and potential within the department
  • Functions as a role model to the department and staff of the delivery of patient care
  • Responsible for performance and improvement activities
  • Responsible for management of all patient care personnel within the department
  • Other duties assigned by your director
