About The Position

The Recreation Director at Genesis Healthcare is responsible for developing, implementing, and supervising activities services within the nursing center to enhance the quality of life for patients and residents. This role involves planning programs tailored to individual and group needs, leading recreation staff and volunteers, and maintaining documentation while participating in budget planning. The Recreation Director also fosters relationships with patients' families and the community to enrich recreation programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation preferred or completion of NAAP/NCCAP Basic and Advanced Management Course for Activity Professionals.
• Certification in accordance with regulatory agencies by the National Certification Council of Activity Professionals (ADC) or the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification (CTRS).
• Two years' experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, preferably in a health care setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and supervise nursing center activities services to improve patient/resident quality of life.
• Plan individual and group programs based on patient/residents' needs, preferences, interests, and treatment goals.
• Lead, guide, and direct recreation staff and volunteers.
• Maintain required documentation and participate in budget planning.
• Develop positive relationships with patient/resident's family and the community.
• Utilize community resources to create or enhance recreation programs.
