About The Position

The Director for the Student Recreation and Wellness Center provides professional leadership, supervision and management of a $32 million, 110,000 square foot indoor facility, $7 million natural/synthetic recreational sports fields, and all programs including indoor/ outdoor programs, fitness/welless, intramurals, and recreational programs. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Life, this position will provide the strategic vision meeting the needs of the student community, planning, management, and assessment of student-centered facilities and programs; oversee full-time and part-time professional staff and student staff; manage the operational budget in relation to facilities, compensation, equipment, etc.; establish and build positive relationships with other campus constituencies. The Director will manage the $1.4 million budget for facilities operations, compensation, and equipment replacement.

Requirements

Position requires an energetic, student-centered, and team oriented recreation and fitness professional who has a demonstrated record of leadership and recreational experience.
Must have considerable professional experience in developing and managing comprehensive recreational programs and activities at the collegiate level
Demonstrated supervision of professional and student staff
Demonstrated knowledge of the importance of health, wellness, recreation, and fitness to a campus community
Demonstrated knowledge of student development in a higher education setting
Experience in advising college students, clubs and organizations, and directing campus-wide activities and programs
Ability to work with diverse populations of staff and students
Strong written and oral communication and organizational skills
Demonstrated oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrated fiscal and business management.
