About The Position

Under Administrative direction, the Director of Radiology is responsible for the department's business and strategic activities: directs internal management systems, process improvements, and policy activities specific to radiology services. Assists in budget development, data collection, and reporting; directs administrative personnel functions, develops and implements new business initiatives related to radiology; oversees department technology initiatives, including imaging equipment and software. Plans, directs, evaluates, and controls activities within patient care delivery models in radiology. Analyzes financial and other data for effective decision-making in the context of radiology operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Radiology, Health Care Administration, or a related field, or 10 years of experience in managing radiology departments and clinical operations.
  • Minimum of five years supervisory/management experience of clinical care teams in a radiology or imaging setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and negotiation abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Directs services and activities of the Radiology department and associated profit centers.
  • Participates in the strategic planning of the Radiology department; plans, directs, and coordinates departmental business activities, develops methods for improving operational efficiency.
  • Monitors the billing process to assure accurate coding and charge capture to maximize returns on revenues.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors departmental compliance plans.
  • Oversees accounting mechanisms to ensure the financial integrity of separate reporting systems for each radiologist and profit center.
  • Guides the internal procedures for the preparation and analysis of radiology revenue, expense monitoring, and activity reports.
  • Prepares and monitors capital and operational budgets for assigned areas.
  • Oversees departmental technology development and implementation.
  • Directs daily operations of the Radiology department to provide quality service and support to patients and referring physicians.
  • Directs administrative personnel functions.
  • Remains current in the field and participates in local, state, and/or national radiology programs.
  • Plans, develops, and pursues new business initiatives to grow the Radiology department's business; responsible for monitoring, reviewing, and correcting financial performance.
  • Provides a positive example for staff by promoting and enforcing Clinic and department policies and procedures and ensures staff compliance.
  • Maintains open communication and serves as an effective liaison to internal departments and external entities as assigned.
  • Accepts and performs any other duties as assigned by administration.
