About the Role The Director of Quality Systems is a senior leadership role responsible for defining, implementing, and sustaining Altera’s global Quality Management System (QMS). This leader will ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements while driving operational excellence, risk management, and continuous improvement across the organization. The role partners closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, and Customer Quality teams to ensure world-class quality systems that support Altera’s product lifecycle and business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field
  • 15+ years of experience in Quality Engineering and Quality Systems within the semiconductor, electronics, or high-technology manufacturing industry
  • 10+ years of experience working with enterprise-level Quality Management Systems and industry quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100)
  • 8+ years of leadership experience managing and developing quality or quality systems teams
  • Demonstrated experience leading internal, external, and customer audits and driving successful audit outcomes
  • Proven track record of implementing and sustaining scalable quality systems in complex, global organizations
  • Applicants must be eligible for any required U.S. export authorizations.

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Business, or a related field
  • Experience supporting aerospace & defense, automotive, or safety-critical semiconductor products
  • Strong background in risk management, supplier quality systems, and operational excellence methodologies
  • Excellent executive communication, influencing, and cross-functional leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy, development, and continuous improvement of Altera’s Quality Management System across global operations
  • Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards and certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949, AS9100, and other relevant industry or customer-specific requirements
  • Own governance of quality system processes including document control, change management, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), internal audits, management reviews, and risk management
  • Drive audit readiness and serve as executive owner for external audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections
  • Partner with engineering and operations leadership to embed quality systems throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept through high-volume production
  • Establish and track quality system KPIs, metrics, and dashboards to ensure effectiveness and continuous improvement
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a global team of quality systems professionals
  • Champion a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization
  • Interface with customers and key stakeholders on quality system expectations and compliance matters
