About The Position

The Director of Quality Engineering is a strategic leadership role responsible for establishing and leading a Center of Excellence that drives quality across all products and engineering teams. This position will transform the organization's approach to quality by implementing shift-left methodologies, establishing quality standards, and leveraging AI-driven innovations to ensure excellence without compromising delivery timelines.

Requirements

10+ years in quality engineering, software testing, or related disciplines
5+ years leading and scaling quality engineering teams
Proven success establishing quality standards in fast-paced technology environments
Demonstrated experience driving shift-left adoption and cultural change
Track record of building Centers of Excellence or similar frameworks
Deep knowledge of test automation frameworks and modern testing practices
Strong understanding of TDD, design patterns, and engineering best practices
Experience with end-to-end, performance, load, and UI testing
Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and their application to quality engineering
Ability to define and execute long-term quality roadmaps
Proven influence across engineering and cross-functional teams
Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience establishing KPIs that drive meaningful quality outcomes
Ability to balance quality rigor with business priorities and delivery goals

Responsibilities

Establish and lead a Center of Excellence model that ensures consistent quality standards and practices across all products
Define and implement quality standards upfront and hold teams accountable to meeting those standards
Develop and execute a comprehensive quality improvement roadmap with measurable outcomes
Ensure proper tooling and infrastructure are in place to enable individual contributors and managers to deliver high-quality software
Champion and implement shift-left practices across the engineering organization, ensuring quality engineers are involved early in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
Promote and support software engineering best practices including test-driven development, software design patterns, and code quality standards
Foster a quality-first culture within each engineering team, making quality everyone's responsibility
Ensure quality engineering practices enhance rather than impede on-time delivery
Provide comprehensive metrics and insights into all aspects of organizational quality, including current state assessments, trend analysis, and on-track status reporting
Establish dashboards and reporting mechanisms that provide visibility into quality metrics at all organizational levels
Implement continuous feedback and improvement processes that encourage thoughtful leadership and ownership of quality across all levels
Design and implement development and test environments optimized for effective testing
Define and establish frameworks, platforms, and tools for end-to-end testing, performance and load testing, UI testing, and other quality assurance activities
Ensure testing infrastructure scales with organizational growth and product complexity
Develop and execute a comprehensive roadmap for AI adoption in quality engineering practices
Implement AI-based test generation capabilities to improve test coverage and efficiency
Adapt the SDLC and related processes to promote AI-based adoption, including evolving how acceptance criteria are written and how test cases are created
Stay ahead of emerging AI technologies and their applications to quality engineering
