The Director of Public Relations at New Era Cap LLC is a senior-level role responsible for developing and executing strategic public relations plans to enhance the brand's profile and exposure. This position requires a highly skilled PR professional with a proven track record in media relations, crisis communications, and brand positioning. The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker and effective communicator, capable of engaging both consumers and industry press while managing a team to support the company's ambitious growth goals.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategies to promote the company's brand and products.
  • Build and nurture relationships with media, influencers, and thought leaders across New Era's Fashion & Sport footprint.
  • Manage media relations, including building and maintaining relationships with journalists, bloggers, and influencers.
  • Help build a storytelling calendar for the brand to facilitate understanding of New Era's products and concepts.
  • Write press releases, product pitches, and manage editorial calendars.
  • Coordinate and manage press conferences, media events, and interviews.
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage and PR campaign performance, providing regular reports to senior management.
  • Handle crisis communications and develop strategies to mitigate potential PR issues.
  • Collaborate with marketing, social media, and other departments to ensure consistent messaging across all channels.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in public relations.
  • Identify marketing opportunities through personal network to create unique PR and marketing opportunities.
  • Deliver and execute annual and seasonal PR/marketing plans in support of New Era's business cycle and product launches.
  • Build a highly effective PR team to support New Era's growth and brand-positioning goals.
  • Establish and utilize metrics for targeting and measuring the effectiveness of PR efforts.
  • Responsible for complete oversight of budget and meeting P&L targets.
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field required; experience in lieu of degree considered.
  • 10 years of experience in public relations, with at least 7 years in a leadership role preferably in sports, fashion, headwear, apparel, footwear, accessories, retail, music/entertainment, and sports.
  • Proven experience developing and executing PR strategies in fashion, apparel, lifestyle, and headwear.
  • Strong understanding of media relations and crisis communications.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute successful PR campaigns.
  • Experience with social media and digital PR strategies is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of fashion culture and its relevance to the New Era brand.
  • Understanding of sport culture strongly preferred.
  • Experience building brands and teams with deep connections across culture and preferably sport.
  • Competitive salary range of $150,000 - $225,000 plus bonus and benefits.
