About The Position

The Director of Public Relations and Internal Communications is responsible for developing and executing MU Health Care's public relations and internal communications strategy. This role supports the organization's mission and goals by overseeing plans that inform and engage team members about strategic priorities, organizational changes, and operational updates. The Director collaborates with the Marketing Department to enhance the system's brand and reputation both nationally and locally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in public relations and corporate communications.
  • Three (3) years of leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement corporate public relations strategies to elevate MU Health Care's brand.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets and industry influencers to increase media coverage.
  • Direct regional crisis communication efforts and develop crisis communications policies and plans.
  • Lead media training sessions for executive leadership in preparation for interviews.
  • Oversee public relations plans for major media events such as groundbreakings and grand openings.
  • Direct the development of a comprehensive internal communications plan aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Human Resources to build a strong employer brand strategy.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and tone across all internal communications.
  • Lead communications for employee forums and change management initiatives.
  • Direct executive leadership communications including speeches and presentations.
  • Establish metrics for PR and internal communications objectives and monitor performance results.
