About The Position

We are currently looking for a Director, Project Management Office (PMO) in the United States. In this role, you will lead the organization’s Project Management Office, driving project governance, portfolio oversight, and strategic alignment across enterprise initiatives. You will shape the PMO’s vision, implement standards and processes, and ensure project outcomes align with organizational goals. This position requires balancing strategic leadership with operational execution, including resource planning, quality management, and training programs. You will collaborate with business and technical leaders, mentor project managers, and oversee complex, high-impact initiatives. The role also involves integrating emerging technologies, such as AI/ML tools, to enhance project execution and delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 10+ years of progressive project/program management experience in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) industry, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Experience establishing or leading a PMO or managing a team of project managers with P&L responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, portfolio oversight, and resource planning in large, complex organizations.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated success managing large, cross-functional initiatives with high organizational impact.
  • Ability to influence change, drive alignment, and ensure project outcomes meet strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the PMO vision, strategy, and operating model, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Establish and maintain project management standards, governance frameworks, and quality controls across the enterprise.
  • Lead portfolio and resource management, including monitoring project performance, risks, dependencies, and reporting to executives.
  • Oversee the project lifecycle, including approvals, corrective actions, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and delivery quality.
  • Develop and manage Quality Management Systems (QMS), internal audits, and quality metrics.
  • Design and deliver project management training programs and facilitate knowledge-sharing, lessons learned sessions, and technical excellence communities.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop PMO and project teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Advise business leaders on project management practices, strategic initiatives, and execution strategies.
