About The Position

The Director- Programming & Licensing covers a multitude of duties including, but not limited to the following: Programming, Contract Management, Implementing and managing a comprehensive licensing process for all Licensees. Manages and coordinates all functions between Licensees and all DAYTON LIVE Departments. Ensures superior customer service standards. A successful Director- Programming & Licensing will be a collaborator who is flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working in an ever-changing environment. He/she must be able to motivate staff to produce quality work within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree-preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience of licensing within an entertainment environment a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with Licensees, peers, leads, management, and general public.
  • Must conduct duties in a positive, professional manner and maintain customer service initiatives.
  • Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personalities and successfully work with all levels of the organization.
  • Must be knowledgeable and proficient in use of Microsoft Word and Excel software, EBMS, Sharepoint, MAS90, Prophix, and be familiar with Paycom or similar payroll systems.

Responsibilities

  • Actively researches new shows, talent, agents and promoters while maintaining positive working relationships with existing and new partners.
  • Works closely with CEO & COO to prioritize booking strategies related to calendar availability.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for talent buying.
  • Leads the programming committee, ensuring members receive regular updates on new show bookings.
  • Partners with the CEO and COO to evaluate financial viability and mission alignment prior to confirming shows or artists.
  • Writes or reviews all deal memos for all Dayton Live presented shows.
  • Reviews and negotiates artist and show contracts as needed.
  • Oversees settlement for all shows.
  • Manages show expense reporting and provides recommendations to the VP of Ticketing and COO regarding sales budgeting.
  • Clearly communicates payment deadlines to the Manager - Programming to ensure timely and accurate processing.
  • Collaborates with production to ensure all technical rider requirements are executed appropriately.
  • Serves as a key liaison across Dayton Live departments and with licensees to coordinate programs and production meetings.
  • Maintains detailed and accurate record of licensee programs and changes and communicates those changes to appropriate staff members.
  • Supervises and manages the Manager – Programming, including oversight of daily workload, training and professional development, calendar accuracy across all venues (Victoria Theatre, Loft Theatre, and Benjamin and Marian Schuster Center and associated spaces), and ensuring invoices are generated and all fees related to licensee performances are collected.
  • Maintains a detailed invoice register for Finance and provides reports as needed.
  • Oversees the development and management of Prism, Dayton Live’s show booking software.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
