About The Position

UNM Medical Group is seeking a full-time, collaborative, and mission focused Director, Programs for their Truman Health Services (THS) center. This position is a on-site opportunity located in Albuquerque, New Mexico with limited remote work options. This position will require travelling to Roswell a minimum of four times per year. Minimum $114,168 - Midpoint $145,468 Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience. Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE. About our Truman Health Services Clinic and our Program Director: UNM Medical Group Truman Health Services (THS) is a National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home, providing team-based primary care to people living with HIV, people who are transgender or gender nonbinary, and transitional primary care to those with HIV or HCV who have recently been released from incarceration as well as consultative care for HIV prevention (PrEP, PEP) and viral hepatitis treatment. In addition to clinical care, THS includes outreach services, case management services, an onsite pharmacy, and a robust quality team. THS's mission is to use a team model to provide the highest quality of care with respect for human dignity through effective medical care, behavioral health services, complementary therapies, and community support. We seek to enhance the physical and personal well-being of people living/accessing care in New Mexico. We partner with local and federal agencies to ensure patients receive comprehensive, coordinated medical and social services tailored to their individual needs. This position will be responsible for overall programmatic oversight for THS operations at the Albuquerque center and Roswell clinic and will collaborate closely with the Truman Health Services Medical Director and the Executive Director of Clinical Operations to work within the larger UNM Health System. The right candidate will have a strong alignment with and commitment to the organizations mission, goals, and impact. Priority will be given to candidates with the following experience: Strategic communication skills, including strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated experience with reporting for grants and associated documentation. Advanced organizational, project management, and time-management capabilities. Leadership in delivering high-quality, patient-centered, and culturally competent care. Ability to serve as a primary liaison with grant funders and external stakeholders. Expertise in preparing and submitting accurate and timely programmatic, financial, and outcome-based reports to a range of stakeholders. Financial oversight skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and optimizing productivity, staffing, and operational efficiency. Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop both senior leaders and frontline team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in healthcare administration, community Health and preventative medicine, or related field required.
  • Seven (7) years of program management experience in a hospital, healthcare system, academic medical center, or medical practice.
  • Three (3) years managerial experience required.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that exceed the minimum education requirement may be substituted for general experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Required supervisory or other people-leadership experience may not be substituted and must be fully met.
  • Possession of a valid unrestricted NM driver's license.
  • Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes Truman Health Services (THS) strategy to support mission, compliance, and service excellence; leads standardized workflows, performance metrics, and continuous improvement across service lines; partners with senior leadership to align THS priorities with organizational and growth initiatives.
  • Oversees complex budgets, including local and national grant-funded programs with annual budgeted revenues exceeding $60 Million. Leads financial planning to ensure sustainable operations; optimizes resource allocation to meet quality, access, and efficiency goals; partners with finance and operational leaders to align spending with strategic priorities.
  • Oversees regulatory compliance and readiness across THS, ensuring alignment with evolving payer and accreditation standards; evaluates the impact of new legislation, CMS guidance, and state regulations; advises leadership and coordinates policy and process updates to maintain compliance and quality performance.
  • Leads multiple THS operational areas, setting priorities and ensuring performance aligns with strategic objectives; oversees staffing, coaching, evaluations, and professional development; ensures adequate staffing levels; fosters a culture of service excellence, teamwork, and accountability aligned with UNMMG ASPIRE values.
  • Oversees patient-centered medical home (PCMH) care for people living with HIV, transgender and gender nonbinary individuals, and those recently released from incarceration; leads a multidisciplinary team delivering comprehensive physical and mental health services, including prevention, acute, and chronic care; ensures coordinated, high-quality care across the health system and smooth transitions between services.
  • Provides oversight of community outreach and case management services, delivering targeted education, testing, and direct support to underserved populations; ensures coordinated assessment, resource linkage, and advocacy for individuals with HIV and primary care patients to improve outcomes, enhance quality of life, and reduce costs.
