About The Position

The Director, Program Implementation NAPF serves on New Leaders’ National Aspiring Principals Fellowship® Team, supporting the organization’s work with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). The Faculty Leadership Coach provides intensive coaching, support, and facilitation of adult learning for up to 30 participants, ensuring a high-quality residency experience for all participants aligned to program expectations and certification requirements. The Faculty Leadership Coach also serves as a senior program implementation team member, providing onboarding support and ongoing professional development for newly hired adjunct instructors and coaches. The Director, Program Implementation NAPF reports to the Executive Director, Program Implementation.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required; Ph.D., Ed.D., or Ed.L.D. preferred.
  • At least 7 years of professional experience required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of school leadership experience; at least 2-3 years as a principal required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience leading professional development in an adult leadership setting required.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a school setting required.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals across a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
  • Passionate belief in academic excellence for every student, aligned with New Leaders' mission.
  • Demonstrated strong personal leadership capability, including facilitating adult leaders, interpersonal relations, relationship building and management including building trust among adults and giving candid feedback to adults including engaging in difficult conversations.
  • Proven record of success improving outcomes for all students by using multiple data sources to inform instructional decisions; and using a cycle of inquiry and action-research.
  • Experience teaching, coaching, and leading adults in a school-based setting.
  • Knowledge and experience with Common Core or similar college- and career-readiness standards.
  • Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Self-starter/self-manager with a learning orientation and ability to initiate work and meet deadlines with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and produce high-quality work in a timely manner.
  • Strong content knowledge (including evidence of proven strategies) in personal leadership, instructional leadership (strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy), and school culture leadership.
  • Technology savvy for web-based instructional techniques and tools, computer proficiency, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Zoom, and Internet tools.
  • Familiarity with and connections to current local, state, and national education reform practices is a strong plus.
  • Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours, as needed.
  • Ability to travel aligned to New Leaders’ Travel and In-Person Activities policy.
  • Must be fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccination or obtain an approved exemption or reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Support the applicant admissions process during open enrollment windows, which includes reviewing admissions activities, scoring, and conducting interviews.
  • Support the warm transfer process from admissions to implementation, ensuring fellows have a seamless orientation to the program.
  • Engage in content-specific onboarding that supports intellectual preparation for course delivery, including asynchronous content deep dives and synchronous sessions as needed.
  • Implement the assigned course with fidelity to the program design and regulatory expectations.
  • Prepare and implement weekly live synchronous sessions, including the management of virtual platform used for live sessions (e.g. Zoom).
  • Implement strategies to garner high response rates for end-of-class surveys and review data to make continuous improvements in support of outcomes and participant learning.
  • Attend weekly team meetings and self-scheduled Implementation check-ins with Fellowship Implementation lead.
  • Collaborate with Fellowship program implementation team weekly to review Fellows' progress and identify specific next steps that address proficiency and support retention.
  • Support participants in connecting course learning to residency experiences.
  • Facilitate nationally designed synchronous sessions, structured to support participants with making equity-centered decisions, facilitating equity-focused conversations, using data to diagnose and solve challenges, and building a common language around effective leadership.
  • Grade assignments and key assessments, provide timely feedback (within 5-7 days of submission) to participants, and observe/evaluate Fellows’ capstone presentations.
  • Provide high-level themed feedback on Module assignments with the whole class as a resource for providing space for questions, clarifying misconceptions, and providing direction that inform proficiency on End of Course Assessment (EOC) which carries significant weight on the course's final grade.
  • Capture program data (e.g., grades, attendance, etc.) within the required learning platforms to understand and support participant engagement and comply with university expectations.
  • Support the facilitation of Leadership Seminars (in-person/virtual) as needed.
  • Hold weekly office hours to support participant learning (approximately two hours per week) and manage discussion boards, as appropriate for ongoing participant engagement.
  • Engage daily with the learning management system to share announcements and review discussion boards and assignments.
  • Engage in content-specific onboarding that supports intellectual preparation for delivery of the practicum courses, including asynchronous content deep dives and synchronous session as needed.
  • Implement the practicum with fidelity to the program design and regulatory expectations.
  • Develop knowledge of Fellows’ school context to support residency learning and performance on the capstone project.
  • Hold individual and small to large group coaching sessions to ensure fellows achieve practicum outcomes and will be prepared for satisfactory program completion.
  • Prepare and implement weekly coaching sessions, including the management of virtual platforms used for coaching (E.g. Zoom, Canvas, Calendly, Coaching Trackers, etc.).
  • Implement strategies to garner high response rates for end-of-practicum surveys and review data to make continuous improvements in support of outcomes and Fellow learning.
  • Attend weekly team meetings and self-scheduled Implementation check-ins with Fellowship Implementation lead.
  • Collaborate with Fellowship program implementation team weekly to review Fellows' progress and identify specific next steps that address proficiency and support retention.
  • Support Fellows in connecting course learning to residency experiences, attending Live Sessions (synchronous) as needed.
  • Support Fellows with making equity-centered decisions, facilitating equity-focused conversations, using data to diagnose and solve challenges, and building a common language around effective leadership.
  • Score key assessments and provide developmental feedback to Fellows within 5-7 days of the due date.
  • Develop and implement systems and practices to support timely collection and management of data sources required to demonstrate execution of the coaching session as well as the tracking of assets and next steps that support Fellows’ successful matriculation through the Fellowship.
  • Develop and maintain professional and productive relationships with Fellows, their supervisors, and the instructors of our accelerated academic courses to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Implement systems to engage and communicate with residency site principals.
  • Support the facilitation of Leadership Seminars (in-person/virtual) as needed.
  • Hold weekly office hours to support participant learning (approximately two hours per week).
  • Work in collaboration with Senior Director, Academic & Certification Operations to understand and monitor minimum requirements for program completion.
  • Work in collaboration with Director, Student Success to support retention efforts.
  • Work in collaboration with IHE partners to understand policies and practices designed to support student success and retention.
  • Lead onboarding efforts for new Fellowship Adjunct Faculty.
  • Provide ongoing support and professional learning to Fellowship Adjunct Faculty.
  • Observe and provide feedback to new Fellowship Adjunct Faculty in service to program quality goals.
  • Engage in continuous learning and act as a contributing team member in order to support the overall goals of the team.
  • Keep up to date on current education research and what works in high-poverty schools and engage in professional learning independently and with the National Aspiring Principals Fellowship Team.
  • Complete all required technology training.
  • Develop and maintain professional and productive relationships with relevant stakeholders; collaborating with others as needed to optimize the program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
