Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC) is a community-based, volunteer-supported nonprofit dedicated to leading the fight against AIDS. Our mission focuses on reducing the spread, helping those affected maintain their health and independence, and ensuring that HIV prevention, treatment, and cure remain a priority at all levels. GMHC's programs actively serve some of the city's most vulnerable populations, and our advocacy work promotes HIV/AIDS awareness and action locally and nationally. Working under the direction of our CFO, the Director, Program Evaluation is responsible for working with agency leadership, program managers frontline staff and clients to assist in the design and implementation of evaluation, research, and quality improvement projects across our agency's program and operational areas. This position requires strong problem solving and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Act as a 'cultural change agent' to promote critical inquiry and data-driven decision-making across the agency.
  • Introduce and train management, staff, and clients in various quality, evaluation and research methodologies.
  • Design and provide daily management of quality, evaluation, and research projects.
  • Build internal infrastructure and capacity for quality, evaluation, and research.
  • Partner with managers to enhance program processes and outcomes, ensuring alignment with both evaluation best practices and organizational goals.
  • Analyze program data to identify trends and areas for improvement, promoting the practical use of results for improvement and to demonstrate program efficacy.
  • Create and manage the development of reports, storyboards, grant proposals, abstracts, professional presentations, and publications.
  • Attend internal and external meetings as required, representing GMHC and its program evaluation efforts.
  • Undertake other tasks and special projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to the organization's mission and evolving needs.
  • Advanced degree in psychology, sociology, public health or the equivalent required.
  • A minimum of three years' experience managing quality, evaluation and/or research projects.
  • Experience with quality improvement (e.g., PDSA, Six Sigma, Lean) a plus.
  • Expertise in advanced functions of Excel such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data validation, conditional formatting, and financial modeling.
  • Proficient in using Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint for professional communication, documentation, and presentation creation.
  • Proficient in using leading data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • Experience with Salesforce and other similar platforms, a plus.
  • Competence in using advanced statistical tools such as SPSS, SAS, Stata, and Python.
  • Proficient in SQL for managing, querying, and manipulating large datasets from relational databases.
  • Experience with quality improvement methodologies such as PDSA, Six Sigma, Lean.
  • Experience with automated reporting tools.
