About The Position

We are seeking a visionary and execution-focused Director of Product Management & Business Development to lead the commercialization of next-generation technologies within Wabtec’s Advanced Technology group. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in commercial product management, business development, deployment of innovative solutions in the rail industry, as well as a proven track record of working directly with customers to shape and deliver impactful technology solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the rail industry, with a strong focus on commercialization of new technologies.
  • Proven success in owning and selling commercial automation solutions, especially in yard automation.
  • Deep technical understanding of systems such as RCL (Remote Control Locomotive), LXA (Locomotive Exchange Automation), TO (Terminal Optimization), PTC (Positive Train Control), and teleoperations.
  • Demonstrated experience working with FRA and AAR regulations and delivering compliant products.
  • Strong customer-facing skills with a history of shaping and selling technology solutions directly to rail operators and industry partners.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate innovation into scalable business opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of sales operations and commercial strategy in a B2B industrial technology environment.
  • Experience building product management systems and scalable roadmaps across multiple product lines.
  • Experience in launching products within a corporate innovation or advanced technology setting.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute product strategy and business development for new technologies emerging from the Advanced Technology Group.
  • Drive the end-to-end lifecycle of new commercial products—from concept validation to customer deployment and adoption.
  • Build and execute a scalable product roadmap that aligns short-term execution goals with long-term strategic vision to push the future of rail forward.
  • Work closely with engineering, R&D, and innovation teams to ensure product-market fit and technical feasibility.
  • Own customer engagement strategy: build relationships, gather feedback, and co-develop solutions with key rail industry stakeholders.
  • Develop go-to-market plans, pricing strategies, and sales enablement materials for innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Commercial Operations teams to define and implement sales strategies, pipeline development, and customer onboarding processes.
  • Secure commercial SPARK (R&D) agreements with customers to validate commercial viability and product market fit.
  • Advance product management frameworks and governance to support scalable growth across multiple programs.
  • Represent the company in discussions with regulatory bodies such as FRA and AAR, ensuring compliance and alignment with industry standards.
  • Champion commercial and G2M efforts within Advanced Technology Group as a mechanism to fast-track innovation into real-world applications.
