Franklin Templeton’s Private Markets group is a core growth engine of the firm, providing institutional and wealth clients with access to differentiated, institutional‑quality investment solutions beyond public markets. The platform offers integrated capabilities across private equity (including secondaries and co‑investments), private credit, real estate, infrastructure, and venture and growth equity. As of March 31, 2026, the firm manages approximately $280 billion in private markets assets, supported by leading specialist investment managers such as Lexington Partners, Benefit Street Partners, and Clarion Partners. Franklin Templeton Private Markets is seeking an exceptional candidate to join the sales team covering the State of Texas. This individual will work closely with other Franklin Templeton sales teams and will be primarily responsible for increasing assets under management for retail funds at Clarion Partners, Benefit Street Partners, and Lexington Partners. The Director, Private Markets will be focused on prospecting for Broker-Dealers utilizing private markets solutions within the Broker-Dealer channel. Strong partnering skills with internal colleagues and resources will be integral to building a successful sales territory. The Director, Private Markets must be willing to learn and grow, have a strong work ethic, a sense of urgency, be prepared, and execute on a territory-specific business plan to launch sales quickly with the highest level of integrity and professionalism. The cornerstone of this sales process is asking questions and listening, providing relevant information and insight, and always putting the interest of the adviser and client first.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance or Business
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an external sales capacity
  • Proven success and relationships within Broker-Dealer distribution channels
  • Strong knowledge of portfolio construction, including low-correlation asset classes and the benefits of limited liquidity
  • Knowledge and experience with NTRs, Interval Funds, and/or private placements
  • Strong understanding of historical and current developments in the non-traded industry and the evolution of private markets products
  • Team-player mentality

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to explain complex investments and structures clearly

Nice To Haves

  • MBA preferred
  • CAIA, CFA, or CIMA preferred
  • Experience selling private markets solutions preferred
  • Current FINRA registrations preferred: Series 7, 63

Responsibilities

  • Prospect Broker-Dealer clients within the selling group who have a desire to implement private markets solutions, specifically those with limited liquidity and low correlation to traded markets.
  • Develop and build long-term, productive relationships with Broker-Dealer clients.
  • Utilize a consultative sales process to identify needs, provide meaningful solutions, and deliver superior service.
  • Understand and articulate capital markets, complex product structures, and real estate strategies.
  • Develop a deep understanding of competitor products and appropriately position Franklin Templeton’s private markets offerings.
  • Integrate current themes and campaigns into a consultative sales process to drive fund flows.
  • Deliver compelling presentations, in both large and small group settings, to the financial advisor community and potential investors.
  • Maintain and update CRM systems with all field activity.
  • Own sales performance and sales goals.
  • Manage a large territory effectively, including scheduling meetings and planning travel.
