About The Position

About the Role: Gartner seeks a Director for the Primary Research Solutions (PRS) team within the Customer and Market Intelligence (CMI) group. This individual contributor role focuses on B2B research to generate actionable insights for and about C-level executives across industries. You will lead primary research projects, collaborating with stakeholders to deliver impactful findings on a range of IT and business topics. The role offers opportunities to apply statistical and AI-driven research methods. What You’ll Do: This position is for experienced researchers interested in leading primary B2B research, particularly surveys and executive interviews, to create impactful new insights for Gartner stakeholders and clients. Lead primary research projects across research methods to inform content development and business decisions. Conduct all stages of research including scoping, design, execution, analysis, and presentation of results. Design and recommend research approaches to validate hypotheses and deliver actionable insights. Manage large-scale quantitative research projects, including complex sampling and advanced statistical analyses (e.g., regressions, factor analysis, MaxDiff). Create data-driven research narratives and present findings to internal stakeholders. Promote best practices in research design, execution, and delivery. Collaborate with senior Gartner Analysts or Product Leaders as primary internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., statistics, business, marketing, psychology, data analytics); Master’s preferred.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in research, insights, or analytics roles focused on primary research; management experience a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of research methods, including surveys and executive interviews.
  • Proven ability to lead quantitative studies from design to presentation.
  • Experience with sampling, survey design, and data management.
  • Strong foundational knowledge and practical experience in running statistical analysis (regressions, clustering, etc.).
  • Proficiency in a statistical software package (e.g., SPSS, R, Q).
  • Practical understanding of survey platforms and capabilities (e.g., Qualtrics, Confirmit, Decipher).
  • Ability to manage multiple, data-intensive projects independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with senior stakeholders.
  • Creative, independent thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Able to collaborate with global, diverse teams.
