About The Position

The position involves leadership in developing and implementing academic, student, faculty, and program-related policies and procedures for the Practical Nursing Program (PNP) at Monty Tech. The role includes recruitment and hiring of staff, supervision and evaluation of faculty, curriculum development, marketing of the program, budget management, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. The individual will also oversee the admission process, chair program meetings, and serve as a liaison between administration and faculty. The goal is to maintain a quality nursing education program that prepares students for licensure and employment.

Requirements

• Must hold a current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing.
• Must possess an earned Master's Degree in Nursing or an earned entry-level doctorate in nursing.
• Must possess a minimum of five years of full-time nursing experience within the last eight years, with at least three years' experience in nursing education.
• Must be qualified under 244 Commonwealth of Massachusetts Regulations to administer the program.
• Must maintain expertise appropriate to administrative responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Assumes leadership in developing and implementing academic, student, faculty, and program-related policies and procedures.
• Initiates the recruitment and recommends hiring of all Practical Nursing Program (PNP) staff/faculty.
• Supervises and performs evaluations for PNP staff and faculty.
• Provides direction for faculty in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum.
• Performs marketing of PNP and recruitment of PNP students.
• Develops and submits the annual budget for review/approval.
• Develops faculty teaching assignments, calendar, and PNP program class and clinical schedules.
• Facilitates the development, implementation, and review of PNP policies and curriculum.
• Manages daily problems and initiates solutions affecting faculty, students, and curriculum.
• Orient new and adjunct faculty to their role and responsibilities.
• Assumes responsibility for the admission process of PN Students.
• Chairs all PN program meetings and provides minutes.
• Participates in the monthly PN Education Committee.
• Serves as the liaison to the PN Program Advisory Committee and accrediting committees.
• Attends Administrative Team and School Committee meetings as required.
• Collaborates with the Library Media Specialist for nursing resources.
• Ensures record-keeping procedures conform with regulations.
• Conducts clinical site visits and develops agreements with affiliating agencies.
• Investigates possible utilization of community health facilities for student experience.
• Validates continuing education programs for nursing.
• Investigates the possibility of implementing a Monty Tech PNP alumni association.
• Supervises the administration of national achievement tests to PN students.
• Facilitates PNP graduate job placement and provides transcripts.
• Collaborates with faculty and Program Advisory Committee to determine departmental needs.
• Prepares for the PNP graduation ceremony.
• Surveys graduates post-graduation for employment and program satisfaction.
• Prepares and submits annual reports and required data.
• Reviews and updates the PNP Systematic Evaluation Plan.
• Continues to develop expertise in administration, nursing practice, and teaching.
• Recommends appointment of a BORN-qualified PNP director in their absence.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
