Summary of Responsibilities: The Director Power Tools is responsible for leading strategic account management and growth across the company’s largest retail and distribution partners. This role drives revenue, profitability, and long-term partnership development through strong business acumen, customer insight, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with operational excellence and a deep understanding of the outdoor power equipment market, including both professional and consumer channels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field required; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive sales or key account leadership experience in durable goods, outdoor power equipment, tools, or related industries.
  • Proven success managing national or strategic retail accounts.
  • Strong track record in contract negotiation, category management, and team leadership.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and executive presence.
  • Analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence across matrixed organizations.
  • Proficiency with CRM and analytics tools (e.g., Salesforce, Power BI, Excel).

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive key account strategy aligned with company growth objectives, brand positioning, and category opportunities.
  • Partner with senior leadership to define channel priorities, promotional plans, and distribution expansion.
  • Account Management
  • Serve as the senior relationship owner for top-tier retail, e-commerce, and distribution accounts.
  • Negotiate multi-year agreements, pricing, and program terms that drive mutual profitability and market share.
  • Lead joint business planning processes, ensuring alignment on sales targets, marketing investments, and new product introductions.
  • Team Development
  • Manage and mentor a team of Key Account Managers and supporting staff, fostering a culture of accountability, performance, and customer focus.
  • Build organizational capability to deliver world-class account service and execution.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Product Management, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure flawless execution of account strategies.
  • Provide market insights and voice-of-customer feedback to inform product development and demand forecasting.
  • Financial Management
  • Own revenue, margin, and forecast accuracy for assigned accounts.
  • Drive profitability through disciplined pricing, mix management, and promotional optimization.
  • Market & Industry Expertise
  • Stay informed of competitive activity, market trends, and evolving retail landscapes in the power tool category.
  • Represent the company at industry events and trade shows as a senior commercial leader.
