About The Position

The Director, Development Optimization will be responsible for overseeing and managing RWE Clean Energy's portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects throughout the development stage. This role involves supporting setting & tracking of KPIs, regular reporting on portfolio health and advancement, and critical assessment of project viability & risks as projects approach an investment decision. The Portfolio Manager will work closely with stakeholders from various departments across RWECE and executive leadership to drive project success and deliver value to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in portfolio management, project development, or a related role within the renewable energy sector
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Proficiency in Excel and project management tools
  • Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time

Responsibilities

  • Translate mid to long-term strategic national targets (organic and inorganic) to the regional level, and drive implementation
  • Independently lead analysis and report progress on portfolio KPIs to assess pipeline strength or deficiencies relative to national targets
  • Manage portfolio of pipeline data, and related budgets (incl. providing assistance in forecasting), conducting required quality checks to assure accuracy and comparability across region
  • Facilitate implementation of strategic initiatives, e.g. new digital tools, or standards
  • Lead development-focused process optimization initiatives
  • Align key organizational functions, including executive leadership, around upcoming investment decisions, perform risk assessments on late state development projects, and track open items
  • Provide support to executive management level, incl. preparation of information and decision-material
  • Lead strategic projects under the directive of the SVP Utility-Scale Development
  • Provide leadership through market knowledge to both developers and regional /national leadership
  • Enable regional stakeholders to meet communicated targets, and ensure best practice exchanges
  • Act as a sparring partner for junior team members on all portfolio management topics
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the portfolio management team
