About The Position

The Director, Portfolio Insights Analytics at AbbVie is responsible for driving analysis of key value metrics to support informed portfolio choices within therapeutic areas (TA) and facilitate cross-prioritization aligned with strategic goals. This role involves data governance, managing a central data repository, and developing automated visualizations and analytics. The director will set the vision and strategy for delivering dynamic visuals and analytics, engage cross-functional partners, and create frameworks for data governance and repository development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific or business field; MBA required, PhD preferred.
• 10+ years of experience with a broad understanding of Pharma R&D business processes, investment stage gating, and commercial processes; fewer years may be considered with advanced degrees.
• Proven people management experience with building a new team.
• Strong coaching and development skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
• Proven track record of leading complex projects at a cross-TA level and delivering enterprise impact.
• Distinctive communication skills and strong presence in meetings, with the ability to shape consensus and promote enterprise thinking.
• Prior experience in Management Consulting and R&D Strategy, with a focus on portfolio prioritization projects is a plus.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted partner with BTS and other functional stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Finance to deliver key outputs and visualizations such as Plan Book and Financial LRP process.
• Foster strong connections with leaders across TASC, PPM, Commercial Forecasting, Finance, and Strategic Resourcing to understand their needs and develop data governance approaches.
• Attract and hire a strong team to establish new capabilities within AbbVie as needed.
• Bridge the Technology and Business sides of the organization to develop user-friendly solutions.
• Work with cross-functional stakeholders to balance consistency in approaches while allowing for TA-specific nuances in data repository creation.
• Define visualization outputs to support senior leadership decision-making on portfolio investments.
• Drive continuous improvement in the new model.
• Lead ad-hoc short-term analysis or strategic projects at leadership request.
