What you’ll do The Director, Portfolio & Capacity Management supports the assigned function to establish effective capacity management processes, maintain an overview of capacity and provide the information required to support critical business processes such as MRP/LTP/RBU’s. The role will report to the Senior Director, Portfolio and Capacity Management of ORD COO organization. Lead the strategic resource planning and capacity management process for the assigned functional area(s). Liaise directly with functional leaders to understand demand/capacity across departmental areas. Oversee portfolio of commitments and lead effective capacity management, planning and controls. Lead interactions with the Resource Council Represent for assigned function(s), ensuring any capacity issues are raised and information shared is actioned and fed back to relevant functional leaders. Develop and manage functional internal and external tools/processes that provide information on demand/capacity and drive improved management of resources required to support the portfolio. Support Project and Functional Leaders in development and maintenance of high-quality plans and demand forecasts. Coach leaders in planning best practice and independently review data and suggest improvements to templates, algorithms, tools and processes. Work with function(s) to develop/improve resource forecasting algorithms to accurately predict demand. Develop a streamlined process to accurately track and reconcile demand/capacity across all systems such as PLANIT, CAPIT, ResourcIT/Assigner , MYTIME and WorkDay. Support reporting, training and reconciliation processes. Pro-actively identify emerging capacity and resource issues, highlight potential gaps in organizational capacity and propose potential solutions. Participate and coordinate with BPO Head, Finance Business Partner, and buisness analysts to support the delivery of mid-range, long range, and quarterly planning cycles (MRP/LTP/RBU’s). Key role in the communication, data provision, analytics and interpretation. May participate in initiatives to support other business process improvement projects in relation to the functional scorecard.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in relevant scientific discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (7-10 years’ experience preferred) in portfolio/capacity management, financial analysis, and/or a similar role within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
  • Experience in providing business and impact analysis to senior leaders
  • Familiar with large capacity and portfolio management systems
  • Experience in strategy development and/or portfolio management within a pharmaceutical environment
  • Strong scientific background and strong analytical skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent written, presentation and verbal communications skills
  • High level of independence with ability to engage, influence and collaborate across global and functional boundaries with a problem solving and delivery-focused attitude

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree, such as a MBA
  • Substantial experience in the Pharmaceutical industry or equivalent
  • Qualifications in Project and Financial Management
  • Track-record of innovation delivering improved business outcomes
  • Familiar skills in CAPIT, Assigner/ResourcIT, and PLANIT (advanced skills preferred)
