We are seeking a Director, Platform Engineering who will drive our connectivity technical evolution across all our pillars including engineering, security and automation. In this role you will bring together key stakeholders across product, tech, risk, cyber, and lines of business together to drive strategy and execute on high priority, strategic initiatives. You will be able to deliver outsized and measurable outcomes by defining and guiding objectives, roadmaps, cross organization collaboration, progress and technical requirements for our Teams. This will require ability to communicate across technical and non-technical stakeholders and manage strategic initiatives with a deep focus on execution and follow-through, accountability and results.

  • Design, document, and maintain the enterprise-wide Google Workspace governance framework, roadmap, and associated policies based on core data governance principles.
  • Partner with Product and Risk stakeholders to translate business objectives and risk tolerance into platform configurations, security practices, and data handling policies.
  • Secure executive and key stakeholder buy-in for the governance program and drive the adoption of a data-aware culture.
  • Lead a formal, documented change management system for all governance-related modifications to the Workspace environment, ensuring clear communication and minimal disruption.
  • Design, implement, and enforce a zero-trust security model for contextual access to data and applications.
  • Partner with Access team on the IAM strategy for Google Workspace, including multi-factor authentication, SSO integration, and context-aware access policies.
  • Partner with Cyber to architect, implement, and manage a robust DLP program for Google Drive to prevent unauthorized sharing of sensitive data.
  • Develop and manage a lifecycle-based governance process for third-party applications accessing Workspace data, including risk assessments and security audits.
  • Partner with the Endpoint team to define, deploy, and enforce security policies for all endpoints accessing the Workspace environment, utilizing Google's device and mobile management features.
  • Ensure the Google Workspace platform meets or exceeds regulatory and legal framework requirements through proper configuration, operation, and auditing.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and HR to apply Google Vault data retention, eDiscovery, and legal holds correctly.
  • Develop and implement a data classification scheme with data stewards, applying labels and retention policies in Google Drive and Gmail for effective data lifecycle management.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for Google Workspace audits, including evidence gathering, responding to inquiries, and managing remediation, utilizing Google's compliance reports and certifications.
  • Identify and design automations for repetitive administrative tasks, partnering with the K&P SWE team for implementation.
  • Collaborate with the K&P SWE team to build custom solutions and workflows using Google Apps Script for specific business needs.
  • Work with the K&P SWE team to develop scripts for programmatic data access and analysis from the Admin Reports API, creating custom dashboards and automated alerts.
  • Manage and govern the use of Google Workspace APIs to ensure secure, efficient, and well-documented integrations with other enterprise systems, adhering to the principle of least privilege.
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 7 years of experience in platform engineering, enterprise information technology, systems engineering, or cybersecurity.
  • At least 4 years of experience with Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with enterprise architecture, administration, and security of a Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
  • 5+ years of experience configurating and managing core Google Workspace security and governance tools, including Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Identity and Access Management (IAM), Context-Aware Access, security reporting, and Google Vault for eDiscovery and retention.
  • Associate Google Workspace Administration or Professional Google Workspace Administrator certification.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) certification.
