About The Position

Mountain Youth Academy, located in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains, is centrally located near Johnson City, TN, Boone, NC, and Abingdon, VA. We are searching for a Director of Plant Operations for our 120-bed residential treatment facility. The position is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the plant, ensuring that maintenance, quality, safety, and workforce development goals are consistently met. This role provides strategic leadership and direction to drive operational excellence, efficiency, and continuous improvement across all plant functions. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of six (6) years related experience with at least two years of management experience, preferably in healthcare.
  • Experience with reading blueprints and understanding Life Safety Codes, accreditation and other regulatory Standards and OSHA Regulations.
  • Experience in a behavioral health facility highly preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • HVAC Certification preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and coordinate all plant operations, including production, maintenance, engineering, and quality assurance.
  • Ensure production schedules are met with optimal efficiency and within budget.
  • Oversee Public Utilities, Security Systems, Housekeeping, Dietary, Grounds Maintenance, Landscaping, and Snow removal.
  • Manage Capital Projects.
  • Develop and execute long-term strategies for operational growth and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on business planning, capital projects, and resource allocation.
  • Build and develop a high-performing operations team.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance feedback to plant managers and department heads.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
  • Implement and maintain a robust safety program to minimize incidents and create a culture of safety.
  • Oversee the implementation of quality systems to ensure products meet or exceed customer expectations.
