About the position

The Director of Physician Compensation is responsible for directing the physician compensation program and plan design. This role involves evaluating physician compensation strategies, determining compensation for new physician hires, and conducting internal evaluations to ensure compliance. The director will develop and align strategies, initiatives, pay practices, and supporting infrastructure to achieve results that align with the goals and opportunities established within the enterprise. As a subject matter expert, the director will provide information on market trends and strategies that impact provider compensation, model and develop compensation plans for specialty groups and individual plans, and advise operational and medical leaders on best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the physician compensation program and plan design.
  • Evaluate physician compensation strategies and new physician hire compensation.
  • Conduct internal evaluations and assessments to ensure compliance.
  • Develop and align strategies, initiatives, and pay practices.
  • Provide information on market trends and strategies impacting provider compensation.
  • Model and develop compensation plans for specialty groups and individual plans.
  • Advise operational and medical leaders on best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with emphasis in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years in healthcare compensation with experience in physician and mid-level compensation practice.
  • Experience in a healthcare finance/system of greater than 200 physicians or consulting specializing in provider compensation valuation.
  • Understanding of IRS intermediate sanctions, Stark Law, and Anti-Kickback Statute.
  • Familiarity with FMV concepts and national benchmarking.
  • Knowledge of EEOC and pay equity regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience in program design and implementation of physician contracts.
  • Experience with benchmarking survey participation.
