Position Overview This position is based on-site at our San Antonio, Texas, location. The Director, Security Management Center (SMC) will lead the operational and technical performance of Vantage Data Centers' centralized monitoring function responsible for real-time situational awareness, incident management, and centralized alarm monitoring across all Vantage campuses in North America. This role is critical to maintaining Vantage's high operational standards and supporting the company's rapid global expansion. The Director will ensure the SMC operates as a reliable, 24/7/365 command-and-control environment that supports data center security operations, field teams, and customers in alignment with Vantage's security standards and growth strategy.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Security Operations Center management.
  • Proven leadership experience (3-5 years).
  • Strong leadership presence and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and professionalism.
  • Deep understanding of physical security operations, protective intelligence, and threat assessment methodologies.
  • Excellent decision-making, situational awareness, and operational problem-solving under pressure.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills with a proactive, hands-on leadership style.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee day-to-day operations of the Security Management Center, ensuring continuous national coverage and compliance with Vantage's security procedures.
  • Manage and mentor the SMC managers, shift leads and specialists to ensure operational consistency across all shifts.
  • Maintain real time situational awareness across all Vantage sites in North America, monitoring alarms, access events and incident escalations through integrated security systems.
  • Establish and enforce SMC performance metrics, ensuring event response and communication timelines meet or exceed SLA and KPI targets.
  • Lead centralized response coordination for security incidents, alarms and emergency situations in partnership with regional and site security teams.
  • Oversee incident triage, escalation protocols and documentation through Vantage's Global Incident Management (GIM) tool.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of critical events to the security leadership team and local on-site teams.
  • Conduct after action reviews, identify root causes and implement process improvements.
  • Oversee the health and performance of all SMC technologies including access control, alarm integration and monitoring platforms (Genetec).
  • Collaborate with IT, Cyber Security and Security Technical Engineering teams to implement technology upgrades, integrations and automation initiatives.
  • Drive operational efficiency using analytics, data visualization and automation tools to enhance event detection and response.
  • Ensure system redundancy, cybersecurity alignment and adherence to uptime standards consistent with data center operations.
  • Develop and maintain SMC-specific SOPs, training programs and certification standards.
  • Conduct periodic audits, drills and performance assessments to ensure operational excellence and compliance with Vantage security standards and requirements.
  • Support national standardization of security processes across all regions in North America.
  • Partner with Compliance and risk teams to meet external requirements (SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, etc.).
  • Serve as the operational liaison between the SMC, Regional Security Managers, Physical Security and Security Leadership teams.
  • Work closely with the on-site Physical Security teams to understand and support customer operations and incident response to maintain seamless information flow during events affecting customer or operations.
