GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE: The Director of Perioperative Services is responsible for directing the activities and functions of Surgical Services, which includes the Operating Room, Post Anesthesia Care, Endoscopy and Ambulatory Surgery. Responsible for direction and coordination of the personnel involved in the provision of nursing services within these departments. Collaborates with physicians for the implementation of policies, procedures, standards, and regulations for the departments to facilitate optimal Nursing care. Assumes 24-hour responsibility, authority, and accountability for patient care activities and service operations. The director is tasked with creating a delivery system that provides care to populations of patients in accordance with the mission and values of St. Joseph’s Health. The Director is responsible for growing the service line into a high quality, profitable and marketable line of business and has overall administrative responsibility for the operations of all components of inpatient and ambulatory Surgical Services and Related Health System entities. Focused on outcomes for populations, when appropriate, the Director of Perioperative Services advances the clinical, financial, patient experience and operational performance of designated value systems, and engages key stakeholders, to determine care delivery improvement and collaboration opportunities across the enterprise and community.
