About The Position

USA Girl Scouts Overseas (USAGSO) seeks a strategic, collaborative, team leader as the Director, Overseas Operations and Member Experience. This person will hold a key leadership position that is responsible for managing USA Girl Scouts Overseas relationships with the military in Europe and Asia, developing and cultivating relationships with strategic partners and stakeholders. The Director, Overseas Operations and Member Experience provide strategic oversight; champions efforts related to USAGSO strategic priorities and is accountable for ensuring that these strategies and plans are consistent with the philosophy of Girl Scouts. They will oversee the effective delivery of the Girl Scout Leadership experience, the Overseas Product Program, the support mechanisms to prepare volunteers, and the operations of the Retail Shop located in Japan. The Director, Overseas Operations and Member Experience, is a member of the USAGSO leadership team and reports to the Executive Director.

  • Demonstrated experience in cultivating and working with diverse, international audiences.
  • Outstanding project management, organization, and time management skills.
  • Strong background in nonprofit organizations, youth development, or similar sectors is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with military/expat lifestyle; knowledge of the Military, State Department and International schools operating overseas.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in corporate or nonprofit environment with five (5) years in a supervisory role.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure program quality and impact by leading the Girl Experience team to design, deliver, and continuously improve programs, including camps, in-person events, partnerships, and other initiatives.
  • Establish and monitor standards of quality to ensure experiences are inclusive, innovative, and aligned with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
  • Use data and participant feedback to measure outcomes and drive improvements.
  • Oversee and expand USAGSO’s international retail operations, including the retail shop in Japan.
  • Develop sales strategies that align with organizational goals, increase product reach in military-affiliated and broader overseas communities, and integrate retail into events and programs to maximize both impact and revenue.
  • Partner with the Product Program Manager to strengthen the international product program, expanding cookie sales to new communities and boosting in-person sales opportunities in military and embassy connected areas.
  • Oversee overseas operations including budget, resource allocation, staffing logistics, and compliance with military requirements.
  • Manage operational support for overseas staff (e.g., ID cards, SOFA status, travel orders).
  • Maintain high standards for efficiency, compliance, and responsiveness in all operational processes.
  • Build strong relationships with key partners and stakeholders including the U.S. military (EUCOMM), Boy Scouts of America overseas councils, Child/Youth Services, DoDEA, WAGGGS member organizations and American/International school administrators.
  • Serve as USAGSO’s liaison with the U.S. military (EUCOMM) and U.S. military (USINDOPACOM).
  • Supervise and support Regional Admin Managers, Product Program Manager, Girl Experience Manager, Outdoor Girl Experience Manager, Finance Associate, and Regional Program Facilitators.
  • Provide coaching, support, and professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Develop and manage the overseas operations budget.
  • Monitor expenses, analyze data, and ensure sustainable financial decision-making.
  • Optimize resource allocation to achieve strategic goals.
