About the position

The Director, Business Systems, is responsible for providing strategic direction and overseeing the day-to-day operations of assigned Administrative and Financial computing systems, with a primary focus on the ServiceNow platform. The ideal candidate will combine strategic vision, technical expertise, and leadership skills to ensure the ServiceNow platform delivers maximum value to the organization. They will foster collaboration across departments, promote operational efficiencies, and contribute to achieving St. Jude's strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage large/critical complex IT areas/teams with responsibilities that span the entire institution.
  • Propose innovative & differentiating IT capabilities to respective business teams, oversee implementation and adoption for ServiceNow and any other assigned applications.
  • Define operational plan and oversee development and execution in line with IT objectives.
  • Manage scope, schedule, and resources to ensure work is delivered in accordance with business needs and established quality standards while eliminating risks.
  • Collaborate with key leaders across the institution and external partner/vendor organizations to optimize organizational outcomes.
  • Define and lead governance, monitoring, review, and control of processes and functions for ServiceNow and any other assigned applications.
  • Provide input into overall budget and variance management for assigned area of responsibility.
  • Actively drive processes for team management in terms of goal setting, performance, development, and engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, data science, information science or related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum requirement: Ten (10) significant years experience in an IT functional area with experience managing mid-large teams with focus on both achievement of objectives as well as critical skill-building.
  • Experience working with ServiceNow is strongly preferred.
  • Experience having led large-scale projects/processes through to implementation.
  • Experience with operational management, budget planning & vendors and resource management.
  • Prior experience in building external connections with peers, emerging technology communities, and vendor networks.
  • Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement short- and long-range systems, capacity, technology, and operational plans.
  • Savvy communicator who easily adapts communication styles to the audience.
  • Cultivates relationships seeking to obtain a deep understanding of the St. Jude user communities, including their need and use of technology.
  • Build strong change management practice across the entire technology team.
  • Continuously improve processes and approaches for the benefit of staff, technology evolution and efficiencies.
