About The Position

The Director of Operational Accounting & Analysis is responsible for maintaining relationships with the Operations leadership team on site performance and process improvement. This role requires outstanding analytical skills, strong communication skills (both verbal and written), and a proven problem-solving capability. The director will manage the process of costing for the company, ensuring accuracy of cost data and adherence to standard financial processes. Responsibilities include preparation of various financial activities such as inventory accuracy and capital expenditures, data gathering, planning, and reporting. The director will contribute to the annual budget process, the periodic forecast process, and other initiatives as they arise, demonstrating self-motivation, goal orientation, and the ability to lead and influence others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Management experience required.
  • Manufacturing industry experience preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office -- MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and NetSuite.

Responsibilities

  • Design proactive processes to support the business.
  • Build capability and capacity within the team to deliver results.
  • Design monthly analyses of the plants’ financial results and interact proactively with the Operations leadership to identify factors that would enhance the plant’s profitability.
  • Provide insights into financial data to help guide decision making.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams on the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts while setting guidance for Multi-site Controllers to work with Plant Managers.
  • Set policy on preparation of capital requests including quantifying savings projects and ability to audit results.
  • Manage physical inventory process and help develop and implement a robust cycle counting program.
  • Partner with cross-functional leadership to identify and implement cost accounting system design improvements.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Controller to ensure month-end close is completed timely.
  • Prepare financial analysis, plans, studies, and presentations as required for management.
  • Serve as a liaison with internal and external auditors and manage various audit activities throughout the year.
  • Ensure plant activities are compliant with company policies and US GAAP.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by collaborating with others to improve overall standards of performance and service through continuous improvement activities.
  • Travel to various sites as needed to learn and contribute to the success of the position.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
