About The Position

The Director of the Office of Communications, Education, and Outreach (OCEO) at the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) is responsible for leading the agency's communication strategies and outreach efforts. This role involves publicizing ACHP's activities, managing media relations, and overseeing the design and distribution of communication materials. The director will also supervise staff, strategize national publicity campaigns, and ensure effective communication across various platforms.

Requirements

• At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG-14 level in the Federal service or comparable experience not gained through Federal service.
• Professional level work regarding the planning, development, and execution of communications and outreach efforts to inform and educate diverse stakeholders about an entity's mission.
• Experience supervising staff engaged in communications and outreach work.

Responsibilities

• Publicize ACHP's activities in mainstream and other media and maintain relationships with media outlets.
• Determine communication needs and inform appropriate entities of ACHP policies, programs, services, activities, and plans.
• Determine the content, design, and distribution of ACHP print and electronic materials to convey the agency's brand.
• Oversee all public affairs and media efforts, planning and executing work to inform all audiences about the ACHP.
• Strategize with leadership to plan and direct national publicity campaigns.
• Direct all ACHP award programs.
• Oversee the user experience, appearance, design, and content of all ACHP-managed websites.
• Provide all communication platforms with timely, relevant information about the ACHP.
• Supervise the staff of OCEO.
