About The Position

The Director of Workforce Strategy, Innovation & Outreach will assist the Vice President of Continuing Education & Economic Development in carrying out the economic development and community education efforts of NIACC. This individual will lead assessing business and community needs, as well as developing innovative solutions that will enable stakeholders to leverage local, state and federal programs for continued success. They will also monitor financial tracking and training agreements. This person will engage in activities to meet the changing needs of business, industry and our local communities. The individual must have a solution-focused mindset.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required along with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Must have strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Some evening work and travel required.
  • Applicants for this position must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. NIACC is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new and creative solutions to meet the needs of business and community in the NIACC service area.
  • Provide leadership to the customized training, continued professional development, Workforce Academy, community education, and Innovation Workspace programs while ensuring benchmarks and goals are being met.
  • Assist with outreach to communities to determine needs for programming in the workforce and community education programming
  • Identify and research potential new workforce programs and certification opportunities, as well as ensure existing programs have continued relevance through program reviews.
  • Assist with the promotion of 260E, 260F and 260G programs to encourage full utilization by qualified business and industry.
  • Ensure 260E and 260F requirements are met for training, monitoring, performance, and Iowa Code.
  • Facilitate the completion of 260G (Accelerated Career Education Program) contract with business and industry that align with the growth and need within the College programming.
  • Facilitate the development of consortia training opportunities to meet the needs of business and community.
  • Assist with the continued implementation of LERN through utilizing tools, benchmarks and formulas to market program offerings. Determine and evaluate current offerings, including enrollment trends and cancellation rates, and oversee the development of new courses/programs.
  • Provide recommendations and influence strategic decision making with the ability to utilize data and insights to support decisions.
  • Provide quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of internal or external customers.
  • Assist with economic development activities as directed.
  • Identify and work with local, state, federal and private sector resources and chamber/economic development groups to provide better access to programs and service to meet specific industry needs.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with NIACC staff and faculty to support and enhance offerings.
  • Serve as a member of divisional and institutional committees and participate in professional organizations and college committees.
