About The Position

The Director of Waste Services is a highly responsible professional position requiring an ethical leader skilled in administration and supervision of the Waste Services Department. The Escambia County Waste Services Director leads, plans, directs, coordinates, and supervises all areas of development and implementation related to solid waste operations, including overseeing design, permitting, construction, and operation of one active Class-I sanitary landfill, three closed landfills, a municipal solid waste transfer station, citizen convenience centers, residential recycling drop off sites, household hazardous waste program; performs contract administration for recovered materials recycling facility/vegetation processing operation, sale of landfill gas agreement, leachate treatment and disposal agreement; and oversees non-exclusive long term franchise agreements for the collection of commercial solid waste and solid waste permitting. The Director's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: This is a 'mandatory-testing' position that requires Drug Testing.
