About The Position

The Association for Individual Development (AID) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower people with physical, developmental, intellectual, mental health challenges; those who have suffered a trauma; and those at risk, to enjoy lives of dignity and purpose. We are looking for a Director of Vocational Readiness who demonstrates this mission and wants to work for an organization that makes a difference in the community. The Director of Vocational Readiness oversees vocational and employment readiness programs that support Clients in developing work skills and pathways to employment. This role manages program operations, supervises staff, ensures compliance, and supports positive Client outcomes across multiple vocational programs. Programs JanAid Culinary Warehouse Delivery DD Group Supported Employment Vocational Exploration, and other assigned vocational programs.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Human Services Field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of human services.
  • Experience providing instruction and adapting to learner and life or vocation skills-based program development.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Able to climb stairs
  • Able to walk, stand, push, pull, reach, bend over, and use a step stool
  • No medical restrictions which would prohibit implementation of a lift/transfer or implementation on behavior programs.
  • Must be able to physically assist clients with activities of daily living
  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations for client and staff as needed
  • Computer software including: Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams; Zoom, Internet Browser, SharePoint, Paycom, Relias, When to Work, Slack, CX360, etc.
  • Office Equipment: computer, telephone, voicemail, printer/scanner, copy machine, calculator, fax, etc.
  • Alarm systems for monitoring fire, weather, security, etc.
  • Adaptive equipment as defined in clients Personal Plans and Implementation Strategies
  • Agency vehicles with and without wheelchair lifts
  • Use of employee’s personal automobile
  • Minimum amount of automobile liability as defined by AID’s personnel policie
  • Flexibility, evening and on-call hours require
  • Attend in-service trainings as required
  • Computer skills, experience with data entry, word processing, and spreadsheets
  • Must be capable of good verbal and written communication
  • Professional appearance

Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff and oversee client services within assigned employment pathway programs, including JanAid, Culinary, Warehouse Delivery, DD Group Supported Employment, and Vocational Exploration.
  • Ensure program compliance with all applicable accreditation, licensure, and funder requirements.
  • Develop and maintain business partnerships to support hands-on vocational opportunities for Clients.
  • Promote a customer-service–focused approach and uphold program standards to support positive Client outcomes.
  • Interview, hire, train, and evaluate staff. Provide professional development and hold staff accountable in meeting program expectations
  • Evaluate and modify program based on its effectiveness, Client interests and goals
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members on Client service planning and vocational goal development.
  • Maintain working knowledge of program funding and assist in developing and monitoring the annual budget in collaboration with CDS and Employment First leadership.
  • Complete documentation and billing accurately and on time (i.e. DFI, DDD SEP, DRS etc.)
  • Understand and monitor Client earning limits and funding-related parameters.
  • Understand and support the vocational referral process, including admission, participation, and discharge, to promote continuous quality improvement.
  • Develop and oversee vocational program curriculum and related activities.
