About The Position

Join One River School of Art + Design to teach and mentor motivated students, work alongside practicing artists in a creative community, and manage and grow your team and student population. We are seeking a seasoned educator who wants to remain hands-on in the classroom, but who relishes the challenge of running a business.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Visual Art, Art Education or Design (Master’s a plus)
  • 5+ years experience teaching visual arts for K–12 and/or adults. Digital art skills are a plus
  • Art Program and teacher management experience
  • Track record of high-quality instruction, classroom management, and student progress
  • Clear communicator, organized, and energized by a busy studio environment
  • Passion for art history, contemporary art and a 'students-first' mindset

Responsibilities

  • Teach weekly art and / or digital art classes and summer camps for a variety of ages and media
  • Ensure student success in the studio and lab by actively engaging with students and teachers to observe, document and communicate their progress and opportunities for growth
  • Conduct proactive check-ins with parents, students and families, support makeup scheduling, discuss student progress and opportunities for growth, upsells to additional classes / camps
  • Ensure teachers have lesson plans/resources on time and implement the One River Method through each class effectively and contribute to lesson plan development regularly
  • Recruit, lead and manage part time educators and teaching artists staff to ensure exceptional educational experiences at the school
  • Teach weekly classes in drawing and painting ensuring students reach their full potential as artists
  • Foster relationships with members and outside groups ensuring that the art community is thriving and growing inside and outside the school, including running gallery exhibitions
  • Order and re-stock art supplies, clean and organize studio spaces and student artwork and oversee digital lab maintenance
  • Collect, curate and install school & community exhibitions; plan and prompt the opening receptions for Student Shows and support parties and special events
