About The Position

ValleyCAST is the Arts & Culture arm of Open Sky Community Services. It was founded in 2007 out of a desire for an inclusive community that provides real opportunities to the people with disabilities the organization serves. Located at the Whitin Mill, which houses administrative offices, an art gallery, a performance center, a community plaza, artisan studios and resident apartments, all renovated with respect for historic preservation and utilizing green technology. Our mission is to foster a creative community in the Blackstone Valley that is inclusive and supportive of all members with and without disabilities. Led by a Volunteer Board, ValleyCAST coordinates and facilitates cultural activities that expand community support for the arts. Whether an art exhibition, concert, play or historic tour, events that bring people together and inspire new connections are always taking place. Learn more about ValleyCAST: https://www.openskycs.org/community/valleycast.html The Director of ValleyCAST serves as an ambassador for ValleyCAST, increasing visibility, partnerships, and community engagement. They are also responsible for the design and delivery of inclusive programming, including 6–8 yearly gallery exhibitions, workshops, performances, and campus-wide events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in the arts with experience as an artist or in arts management, required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ leadership experience in nonprofit, community, or arts-based organizations, required.
  • Proven success developing programs and events that engage diverse communities.
  • Strong leadership, communication, marketing, and strategic planning skills, required.
  • Valid drivers license and acceptable driving history, required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and implement ValleyCAST’s strategic vision in collaboration with the Board of Directors and Open Sky leadership.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Oversee programming and events at the Whitin Mill campus, including the Summer Concert Series and Singh Performance Center activities.
  • Build strong relationships with artists, community partners, theater groups, and audiences.
  • Lead marketing strategy across print, digital, social media, and web platforms.
  • Contribute to grant development and ongoing program evaluation.
