About The Position

The Trade Operations Director is responsible for directing Lam Research Global Trade Operations and for overseeing the team that manages shipments in and out of Lam Research's Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ). The position will help the company achieve its cost and service goals by managing all aspects of import-export transactions for both manufacturing supplies, customer spare parts, and finished product. This position promotes Global compliance by guiding the Lam Trade Operations team with Regional Customs agency regulations. The Director provides expertise on the questions regarding Incoterms, FTZ policies, and regulation matters. This position promotes compliance with United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and all other Global governmental agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 10 years' experience in Compliance Operations, Transportation, and/or International Logistics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess strong leadership skills including Team Facilitation, Training, and Motivation.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems with scalable and repeatable results.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 10% (including domestic and international), mostly domestic travel for internal meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Represents the company to US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for zone operations.
  • Identifies opportunities to secure duty refunds and take advantage of duty-saving programs.
  • Partners with the Lam Research Foreign Trade team on compliance standards.
  • Maintains formal, company-wide import-policies, procedures, controls.
  • Maintains company-wide Export Management System, ensuring compliance with Global import and export regulations.
  • Provides guidance on import-export compliance manuals - standard operating procedures regulations.
  • Performs audits to evaluate compliance levels and effectiveness of procedures, policies, controls.
  • Oversees duty mitigation programs including FTZ, LMW, bonded operations, and Duty Drawback program.
  • Educates departments on customs compliance - presentations, procedures, memos, conversations.
  • Participates in new business continuity plan groups, identifying operational requirements early in the planning process.
  • Leverage international free trade agreements benefiting the organization.
