About The Position

Bass Pro Shops is seeking an experienced Director of Trade Compliance to lead its global trade compliance program, ensuring adherence to international import/export regulations and supporting efficient, risk-managed supply chain operations. This strategic role involves overseeing customs processes, regulatory engagement, product development support, and vendor compliance across a diverse product portfolio. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in trade law, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments.

Requirements

• Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business or Related Juris Doctor or Legal Experience Preferred
• Licensed Customs Broker (Preferred)
• 10+ years of experience in Trade Compliance Leadership

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead global trade compliance strategy aligned with business goals
• Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership on trade-related decisions
• Manage and mentor a team of trade compliance professionals
• Oversee import/export operations, including customs classifications, valuation, and duty optimization
• Maintain relationships with customs brokers and ensure accurate regulatory filings
• Monitor changes in trade laws and enforcement priorities
• Conduct internal audits, risk assessments, and investigations
• Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies (CBP, BIS, OFAC, etc.)
• Support product development with compliance input on labeling, origin, and restricted materials
• Advise private label programs and optimize trade benefits through sourcing strategies
• Evaluate vendor compliance and conduct supplier audits
• Collaborate with Legal, Finance, IT, and Supply Chain to integrate compliance into operations
• Support financial planning related to tariffs, duty drawback, and reconciliation
• Design and deliver trade compliance training across departments
• Promote a culture of compliance and proactive issue reporting
