About The Position

High Focus Centers is seeking a Director of Therapeutic Education Services to lead and oversee the academic programming integrated within our adolescent Partial Hospitalization Programs across multiple sites. This leadership role ensures continuity of education for students during treatment by combining academic instruction with therapeutic intervention and coordination with school districts, families, and clinical teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
  • Active state teaching certification
  • Minimum 5 years teaching experience (preferably with adolescents)
  • Experience working with students with emotional, behavioral, or mental health needs
  • Strong working knowledge of IEP processes and school-based systems

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Education, Educational Leadership, Special Education, or related field
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience in an educational or therapeutic environment
  • Experience in PHP, IOP, residential treatment, alternative education, or similar settings

Responsibilities

  • Oversee educational services across PHP sites to ensure alignment with treatment and therapeutic goals.
  • Supervise, support, and evaluate teachers and educational support staff.
  • Develop schedules, instructional models, and curriculum appropriate for a therapeutic setting.
  • Maintain active teaching certification and provide classroom instruction or coverage as needed.
  • Model trauma-informed, therapeutic, and differentiated instructional practices.
  • Work closely with clinical leadership to support students’ overall treatment plans.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute educational insights to clinical planning.
  • Serve as primary liaison to school districts, special education departments, and alternative education programs.
  • Communicate regularly with schools, families, districts, and referral sources regarding progress and needs.
  • Support transition and re-entry planning for students returning to school or moving to the next level of care.
  • Coordinate educational records, attendance, coursework, credit recovery, IEPs, and 504 Plans.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and transition meetings as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with state education standards, special education regulations, HIPAA, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain documentation, reporting, and participate in accreditation/licensing processes.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and professional development of educational staff.
  • Monitor educational outcomes including attendance, engagement, and transition success.
  • Contribute to program development and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Complete required trainings and continuing education.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
