About The Position

The Director of the Pawtucket Hope Academy is a dynamic school leadership role focused on providing educational leadership for students and staff in an alternative education setting. The position aims to re-engage students with a history of behavioral disengagement by fostering a school culture of respect, responsibility, and results. The director will collaborate with teachers, students, and the community to implement effective student discipline policies and academic programming that supports student achievement.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in School Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of leadership experience at the school site level as an administrator.
  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience.
  • Satisfactory evaluations in the last five years.
  • Knowledge of modern instructional techniques and curricular concepts related to high school education.
  • Understanding of school administration principles, including school finances and program development.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS).
  • Familiarity with Response to Intervention (RTI) strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge of principles, practices, methods, and techniques used in curriculum development and classroom instruction for alternative education.
  • Collaboratively develop and support a plan of transition for students to successfully re-engage with their home schools.
  • Provide leadership that involves staff, parents, students, and the community in the identification and accomplishment of the school's mission.
  • Analyze relevant information, make decisions, delegate responsibility, and provide appropriate support and follow-up.
  • Communicate effectively with various constituencies within the school community.
  • Involve staff, parents, students, and the community in setting goals and decision-making procedures.
  • Regularly assess teaching methods and strategies to ensure they are appropriate and effective.
  • Set high expectations for students, staff, parents, and self, and encourage personal goal setting.
  • Use a variety of techniques to assess student performance and the effectiveness of the instructional program.
  • Foster constructive suggestions from the school community for program improvement.
  • Recruit, select, assign, and organize staff to achieve the school's mission.
  • Manage the operation and maintenance of the physical plant.
