The North Dakota State University Challey School of Music seeks an outstanding administrator as Director of the Challey School of Music. The position is offered as an 11-month appointment as Director and Professor of Music, beginning in August of 2025. The Director is responsible for the educational and operational success of the Challey School of Music and will lead a faculty, staff, and student body of talented and dedicated artists and educators. The Director fosters and maintains a collaborative atmosphere and works with colleagues and upper administration in the College of Arts and Sciences to advance the mission of the School, as well as the College and greater University community. The Challey School of Music is part of NDSU's Division of Performing Arts, along with the Department of Theatre. The Director is responsible for collaborating with the Head of Theatre to foster partnerships across the Division, as well as manage shared resources. The Director is also responsible for the effective management of the School's concert and performance facilities, which serve the university and the region. The Director is expected to maintain close touch with students, and will have a limited teaching assignment in their specialty area. The Challey School of Music has a long tradition of training musicians in music education, performance, conducting, composition, and liberal studies at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. We specialize in the education of K-12 music teachers as well as college and university faculty members, because of our master's and doctoral degrees. The CSoM has the broadest Music curricula in the region, and the only doctoral program in performance and conducting in North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho.
