About The Position

The Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) at Goodwin University is responsible for overseeing faculty professional development and programming. This role focuses on enhancing teaching effectiveness and supporting faculty in their career advancement through initiatives related to Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB), and Open Educational Resources (OER). The director collaborates with various academic leaders to create a supportive environment for faculty at all career stages, ensuring alignment with the university's mission to educate a diverse student population.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree preferred, Master's degree required.
  • Significant experience as a faculty member, preferably at the level of Associate Professor or higher.
  • 3-5 years of experience in teaching and learning, especially in diverse settings.
  • Expertise in UDL, DEIB, and OER in educational practice.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canvas LMS.

  • Experience with instructional design principles and technology integration in teaching and learning.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee programming and activities of the Judith Drake Zimmerman Center for Teaching Excellence.
  • Lead, manage, and support faculty professional learning and development initiatives.
  • Develop onboarding plans for new faculty in collaboration with deans and program directors.
  • Implement initiatives that advance UDL and related professional learning.
  • Support DEIB initiatives and related professional learning for faculty.
  • Manage and maintain the CTE operating budget.
  • Plan and coordinate professional development programs for faculty.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging educational technologies for effective integration into instruction.
  • Provide online and in-person training and coaching on best practices for teaching and learning.
  • Manage the annual UDL conference in collaboration with faculty and staff.
