About The Position

Mountain Views Supervisory Union is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Director of Technology & Innovation to serve as a strategic and instructional leader. This position is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive vision for technology that advances student learning, operational excellence, and organizational effectiveness. The Director leads all aspects of district technology, including infrastructure, cybersecurity, data governance, instructional technology, and innovation, ensuring alignment with district strategic priorities and measurable outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Educational Technology, Computer Science, or related field (required)
  • 5–7 years of progressive technology leadership experience
  • K–12 experience strongly preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Criminal background clearance
  • Strong understanding of K–12 instruction and technology integration
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and data privacy regulations
  • Experience with cloud systems and network infrastructure
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into actionable strategies
  • Demonstrated success leading innovation and organizational change
  • Demonstrates ethical leadership and integrity
  • Builds strong collaborative relationships
  • Focuses on continuous improvement and measurable results

  • Vermont Teaching License (Computer Science or Educational Technology Specialist)

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Vision Develop and implement a districtwide technology vision aligned with the Strategic Plan and Portrait of a Graduate
  • Serve as a key advisor to the Superintendent and leadership team
  • Lead cross-functional integration of technology across instruction, assessment, finance, and operations
  • Monitor and evaluate emerging technologies, including AI
  • Partner with curriculum leaders to enhance teaching and learning through technology
  • Promote instructional frameworks such as SAMR and TPACK
  • Design and deliver high-quality professional development
  • Support digital learning tools and equitable access for all students
  • Oversee networks, devices, cloud services, and enterprise systems
  • Ensure reliability, scalability, and security of infrastructure
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service agreements
  • Lead system implementations aligned with district goals
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive cybersecurity program
  • Ensure compliance with FERPA, COPPA, CIPA, and state regulations
  • Oversee data governance and promote ethical technology use
  • Lead incident response and disaster recovery planning
  • Oversee systems for data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Ensure data is accurate, accessible, and actionable
  • Support data-informed decision-making and improve data literacy
  • Develop and manage the technology budget
  • Align resources with strategic priorities
  • Maximize funding opportunities (E-Rate, grants)
  • Ensure cost-effective purchasing
  • Supervise and evaluate technology staff
