About The Position

The Director of Tax Advisory leads the Tax Planning & Compliance team, setting strategic direction and ensuring technical excellence and outstanding client service. Acting as a trusted advisor to high-net-worth individuals, executives, and family offices, this role delivers customized tax planning, compliance, and wealth strategies. The Director also oversees engagement execution, team development, and process improvement while collaborating with firm leadership on financial planning, client growth, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or EA required.
• 10-15 years of progressive tax experience with HNWIs, partnerships, and closely held businesses.
• Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws.
• Proven leadership, client management, and communication skills.
• Analytical, solutions-oriented mindset with strong business acumen.
• Must be commutable to Philadelphia, PA or Wilmington, DE, and available for in-office collaboration (~4 days/week).

Nice To Haves

• Master's in Taxation, JD, or advanced credential.
• Experience at a Big 4 or leading regional firm.
• Expertise in S Corp, trust taxation, and complex entity structures.
• Familiarity with CCH Axcess, CCH Engagement, and workflow automation tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic direction and execution of the Tax Advisory practice.
• Advise high-value clients on tax planning, compliance, and integrated wealth strategies.
• Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and superior client experience across engagements.
• Design and implement effective tax strategies aligned with client goals.
• Manage engagement performance, profitability, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with leadership on billing, onboarding, and financial planning.
• Mentor and develop team members, fostering accountability and growth.
• Promote innovation through technology and analytics to enhance service delivery.
