The Director of System Integration is responsible for leading the design, development, and management of enterprise data and integration platforms, with a strong emphasis on data lake architecture and modern API frameworks. This role is a hands-on technical builder and owner ensuring seamless connectivity between internal systems, data pipelines, and external platforms to support analytics, automation, and business performance initiatives. This role is both architect and builder. It requires deep hands-on work designing, developing, and maintaining pipelines and integrations. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Business Performance & Integration and plays a critical role in shaping the organization’s digital ecosystem, enabling scalable data-driven decision-making and operational efficiency. New Charter has early-stage analytics maturity, and we are looking for someone to design a reliable, scalable framework and continue to iterate the platform.

  • Enterprise Integration Strategy & Leadership Develop and execute the enterprise system integration strategy in alignment with business objectives and digital transformation goals.
  • Lead the design, governance, and lifecycle management of system integrations across 30+ operating companies and all corporate business units.
  • Collaborate with the SVP, Business Performance & Integration to develop a multi-year roadmap for data, integration, and automation capabilities.
  • Ensure integration strategies support reliability, scalability, security, and long-term maintainability.
  • Drive and align strategies in concert with a Steering Committee and the office of CISO.
  • Data Lake Architecture & Management Own the architecture, development, and optimization of enterprise data lake solutions.
  • Lead data ingestion, modeling, transformation, and orchestration processes (ELT/ETL).
  • Establish and enforce best practices around data governance, data quality, schema design, and pipeline performance.
  • Partner with BI, analytics, and data science teams to ensure data availability, consistency, and usability.
  • Oversee integration of data lake technologies with internal systems, cloud services, and 3rd-party platforms.
  • API Management & Integration Services Lead the design and implementation of API frameworks, including REST, GraphQL, and webhook-driven architectures, leveraging AI as appropriate to achieve business outcomes.
  • Manage API lifecycle processes: design, documentation, security, versioning, and performance monitoring.
  • Evaluate and implement integration platform technologies (iPaaS, middleware, event-driven architectures).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with IT, Business Performance, Service Delivery, Finance, Sales, and Product teams to understand integration requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Provide integration guidance during M&A activities, system migrations, and new system rollouts.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex integration issues and architectural decisions.
  • Security, Compliance & Quality Ensure all integrations adhere to organizational security policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee monitoring, logging, and incident management for integration infrastructure.
  • Implement version control, CI/CD practices, and automated testing frameworks to ensure code quality and deployment reliability.
  • 7–10+ years of experience in system integration, data engineering, or enterprise architecture.
  • Strong expertise in data lake architecture, ELT/ETL, SQL, performance tuning, and data governance including the evaluation of data warehousing and data lake platforms like Snowflake, Azure SQL Database, Databricks, etc.
  • Hands-on experience in API design, management, and integration frameworks.
  • Ability to create staging layers, model datasets, and solve API issues.
  • Proven experience leading technical teams and managing cross-functional integration initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Proficiency with modern integration tools, pipelines, CI/CD, and version control.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in an MSP, technology services, or multi-business-unit environment.
  • Experience with integration platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Boomi, Zapier, Workato, or similar).
  • Familiarity with data security and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Experience supporting analytics, BI, or machine learning pipelines.
  • Agile/Scrum leadership experience.
