About The Position

The Director of Sustainability and Recycling (DSR) at Dillard University will lead and coordinate various sustainability efforts on campus. This role emphasizes collaboration among stakeholders to enhance the university's impact on waste reduction and green initiatives. The DSR will engage students in sustainability projects, advise related student organizations, and ensure effective communication across departments. Additionally, the position involves developing marketing strategies for sustainability initiatives and maintaining the university's sustainability web presence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university or equivalent in-depth specialized training program directly related to the type of work being performed.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.

  • Experience managing volunteers.
  • Experience in a university, non-profit, or government environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as coordinator for sustainability engagement and communications.
  • Develop campus and community awareness and represent the university in various functions regarding sustainability.
  • Coordinate sustainability outreach including campus engagement programs, volunteering, trainings, presentations, events, and orientations.
  • Coordinate sustainability communications for social media, news coverage, interviews, newsletters, blogs, branding, and web.
  • Develop and implement strategies for campus sustainability, focusing primarily on engagement, communications, and evaluation.
  • Develop print and digital materials for promotional use, education, and engagement.
  • Serve as the primary contact for sustainability at Dillard University and liaison for sustainability communications and outreach.
  • Oversee operation of campus' Total Maintenance Authority (TMA) Work Order System, including training related to the system.
  • Prepare analyses and reports.
  • Help set and meet budgeting goals and assist with acquiring external funding.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to student employees and volunteers.
  • Assist in supporting departmental sustainability initiatives and sustainability committee needs.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein and as assigned.
