Fulltime Exempt position. Summary: The Director of Surgical Services provides strategic and operational leadership across the full continuum of perioperative care, including: Outpatient Surgery Unit Preoperative Services Operating Room Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Sterile Processing Department Anesthesia Services Ambulatory Infusion Suite This role ensures the delivery of safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care, while driving performance improvement, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing with two years four years of varied and progressive perioperative services experience, and/or perioperative nursing management experience with increasing level of administrative responsibility and authority.
- At least one year of previous work experience in a supervisory role is required.
- Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge in financial management; knowledge of practices and procedures for planning and formulating budgets and monitoring related expenses.
- Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public, other agencies, employees and administration.
- Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians or others in a professional manner.
- Must obtain annual flu vaccination and any job-specific immunizations.
- Required to submit to a TB test.
- Current RN licensure in Colorado
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and evaluate surgical services staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Oversee daily operations, staffing, scheduling, payroll, and workflow efficiency
- Ensure compliance with CMS regulations, accreditation standards, and infection prevention protocols
- Partner with Quality teams to develop and sustain performance improvement initiatives
- Manage departmental budgets and resources with a focus on fiscal responsibility
- Champion patient safety and high-quality perioperative care delivery
- Guide staff development through coaching, education, and performance management
- Lead change management efforts and process improvement initiatives
- Monitor and analyze quality and performance data to drive outcomes
- Ensure appropriate staffing, equipment, and supplies are consistently available
- Promote culturally competent care and patient advocacy across all services
- Maintain compliance with all licensure, certification, and training requirements
