About The Position

The Director of Student Services provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all student-centered programs, systems, and supports across the James Irwin Charter Schools network. This position oversees student enrollment and registration, academic advising, state reporting, assessments, student information and data systems, as well as programs for multilingual learners and gifted/advanced students. The ideal candidate is a mission-driven, detail-oriented, and collaborative leader who ensures that all student services are implemented with integrity, compliance, and a focus on supporting each student’s academic and personal growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in educational leadership, Data Systems, a related field or commensurate experience.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in student services, assessment, or school operations, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal education laws, reporting, and assessment systems.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects, systems, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a K–12 charter or multi-campus school network.
  • Proficiency with student information systems (e.g., Infinite Campus, PowerSchool, or similar platforms).
  • Background in multilingual, gifted, or academic advising programs.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and maintain a comprehensive vision for Student Services aligned with the mission and strategic priorities of James Irwin Charter Schools.
  • Supervise and support Student Services staff across the network, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with school leaders, counselors, and instructional teams to ensure cohesive and compliant practices across all campuses.
  • Serve as a member of the network leadership team, contributing to system-wide planning and policy development.
  • Oversee all processes related to student enrollment, registration, transfers, and record management.
  • Serve as System Administrator for all student information systems (SIS) and related data platforms.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and security of student data in compliance with FERPA and state regulations.
  • Maintain and streamline systems and workflows to enhance student experience and operational efficiency.
  • Manage all state and federal reporting related to student demographics, attendance, enrollment, and performance.
  • Ensure timely, accurate submissions and adherence to all applicable state and charter accountability requirements.
  • Provide training and guidance to department and school-based staff on compliance and reporting expectations.
  • Provide oversight and guidance on attendance and truancy processes, ensuring compliance with state laws and network policies.
  • Oversee all assessment programs, including state-mandated tests, benchmark assessments, diagnostic and placement testing.
  • Supervise the development and management of assessment calendars, training, test security protocols, and reporting processes.
  • Analyze and share assessment data to inform placements, interventions, and program evaluation.
  • Lead programs and supports for Multilingual Learners and Gifted & Advanced Learners, ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements.
  • Collaborate with instructional teams to ensure access to rigorous, content-rich learning opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and student outcomes.
  • Oversee the Academic Advising Program, ensuring that students receive high-quality guidance on course selection, graduation planning, and post-secondary pathways.
  • Supervise advising staff to support student success and graduation readiness, promoting consistency and excellence across schools.
  • Monitor student progress toward academic milestones and implement systems for early intervention.
  • Provide training for staff on student data systems, assessment literacy, compliance, and student support best practices.
  • Collaborate with academic and operations teams to ensure data-driven decision-making and program alignment.
  • Represent James Irwin Charter Schools in state, regional and district meetings related to student services and accountability.
